Global Site Consultant Visits Saline County

Saline County, AR (March 14, 2007) –

The Saline County Economic Development Corporation (SCEDC) served as host to site location consultant Dr. Buzz Canup, president of Canup & Associates, Inc., on Wednesday. Canup was in Little Rock serving as a panelist on Business Attraction at the Mid-South Basic Economic Development Course. Entergy’s Office of Economic Development arranged for Canup to visit Saline County to see first-hand the Saline County Regional Airport Select Site which was certified in 2006.

“We are pleased to be able to take the opportunity while Buzz is in Arkansas to highlight this Select Site property,” said Mike Maulden, director of Entergy’s Office of Economic Development. “Saline County worked hard to meet the 50-point criteria necessary to certify their site. One of the benefits of having a Select Site is that Entergy goes to great lengths to ensure that site location consultants are aware of that particular site. A personal visit by a site consultant is one of the benefits associated with having a Select Site and is an effective way to make a lasting impression on that consultant.”

The certified Saline County Regional Airport Site is a 715-acre site adjacent to the Saline County Regional Airport. The SCEDC has the necessary clearance letters, surveys and mapping for the site and has determined the costs and needs for upgrading the site to be able to support new business at that location.

“We are very honored to have been chosen as one of the locations for Dr. Canup’s visit,” said Eddie Black, chairman of the SCEDC. “It is our intention to show that Saline County is prepared and ready to host prospective clients. We’ve completed the due diligence, now we are working hard to market our Select Site and Saline County as a whole. We’re prepared to show Dr. Canup, and other consultants and prospective companies, that Saline County is a great place to locate a new business.”

Before forming his own company in early 2000, Canup spent nearly 20 years with Fluor Corporation in various executive level positions. He has extensive background and experience working with world-class corporations on a global basis and has assisted major international and domestic companies in performing site location studies, incentive negotiations, property acquisitions and project implementation. The types of projects have included: headquarter operations, research and development, manufacturing, high technology, warehousing and distribution, and other operating facilities.
